Pokemon GO is Temporarily Unavailable in One Area
Pokemon GO players in one particular area are currently unable to play the game, with fans not able to access the game during a major ongoing event. The beloved monster-catching mobile game from Niantic has given fans plenty to be excited about in recent weeks, launching its newest season and introducing plenty of new Pokemon. The “Tales of Transformation” season has already brought multiple new Pokemon to Pokemon GO throughout September, including the release of Dudunsparce and Dynamax Duraludon among others. Now, one big Pokemon event is being interrupted for some players.
Alongside Tales of Transformation, Pokemon GO has rolled out the newest “City Safari” events as a series of live events centered around several major cities. City Safari is being held in a plethora of cities around the world this weekend, featuring city-wide Pokemon GO events in North America, Europe, and Asia. The events feature increased spawn rates for a large variety of Pokemon, as well as exclusive versions of Eevee and its evolutions wearing “Explorer’s Hats.” However, Pokemon GO is temporarily unavailable in one major city.
Pokemon GO fans in Bangkok are finding themselves temporarily unable to play the game during the ongoing City Safari: Bangkok event. An official report shared by Niantic’s Customer Support confirms that gameplay has been suspended in an unspecified area of the city of Bangkok, cited as being connected to a sinkhole within the city. The post does not reveal how large an area of Bangkok is affected by the temporary suspension, nor any changes to the event schedule for Pokemon GO as a result of the sinkhole. The post does suggest players “exercise caution” if participating in the event, suggesting it does not extend to the entire city.
Pokemon GO is Temporarily Unavailable in Bangkok
The temporary Pokemon GO suspension has seen plenty of outcry from players, particularly regarding individuals in the affected areas. Many fans have suggested that Pokemon GO should extend or move the event as a result of the outage, feeling it would be unfair to players who paid to travel for the Pokemon GO event. Niantic also did not provide a window for how long the outage would last for Pokemon GO in Bangkok, with the two-day event’s entire duration potentially being affected as a result of the sinkhole.
Despite the temporary troubles with Pokemon GO‘s newest event, Niantic looks to have lots in store for fans of the mobile game. Niantic has already revealed two of the next Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet coming to the game, with Dipplin and Hydrapple set to arrive in Pokemon GO in early October. Mega Metagross, teased with Tales of Transformation’s launch, will also officially make its Pokemon GO debut with a Mega Raid Day during the first weekend of October. Pokemon GO fans in Bangkok can hope that the real-world issues are resolved quickly, so that more fans can enjoy City Safari.
