Devil May Cry 5 patch pulls lens flare butt cover-up on PS4 – but not in Europe

It’s another puzzling situation for Devil May Cry 5, this time for European PlayStation 4 users.

MILD SPOILERS FOR DEVIL MAY CRY 5 AHEAD.

Capcom issued an update for the game that adds the Bloody Palace mode, and with it pulled the lens flare butt cover-up that was included with the 18-rated action game on PS4 at launch.

But, strangely, patch 1.07 only changes the game for the US version. The European version remains as it did – with lens flare covering up Trish’s bum.

We’ve verified this is the case with our own copy of the game on PS4 and, post update, there’s no change in the cutscene that sees Trish carried naked to safety by Dante.

Devil May Cry 5 patch 1.07 removes censorship on PS4 Watch on YouTube

Capcom did not indicate the patch would make any change to Devil May Cry 5’s censorship, nor has it explained why the change was made now, or why it doesn’t apply to the European version of the game. We’ve asked the publisher for comment.
